 How to Install & Run Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on HTC Evo 4G via CyanogenMod 10 ROM

Now install and run Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on your HTC Evo 4G via CyanogenMod 10 custom ROM. HTC Evo 4G features 4.3″ TFT display and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Still not Jelly Bean update is officially announced for the device, but due to developers’ hard work the device has experienced the Jelly Bean taste.

CyanogenMod 10 includes several improvements, including buttery smooth performance, customization features, soother keyboard, quick, new navigation menu, and much more. As ROM is in development stages therefore some features may not work properly including camera, camcorder, 4G data and front-facing camera but if want to experience some Jelly features then take a look below to follow step-step guide.

NOTE: This guide in only for HTC Evo 4G. So don’t apply it to other device that may brick your device.

Requirements

  • HTC Evo 4G with ClockworkMod Recovery installed, unlocked bootloader and S-OFF. ToolKit to unlocked bootloader and S-OFF
  • Computer running Windows OS
  • CyanogenMod 10 ROM (DOWNLOAD)
  • Google Apps package (DOWNLOAD)

Steps to Install Jelly Bean on HTC Evo 4G

Step 1: Download CyanogenMod 10 ROM and Google Apps package from above links and copy the files to SDcard of your HTC Evo 4G.

Step 2: Switch off your HTC Evo 4G and boot it into HBoot by pressing and holding the “Volume Down” + “Power” buttons together until device boots into HBoot. (Navigate via Volume buttons and to select an option press Power button). In Hboot select “Recovery”, and then press the “Power” button to select it.

Step 3: Choose “Wipe data/factory reset.” And choose “Yes” to confirm data wipe. Wait for the process in finished.

Step 4: choose “Wipe cache partition” and select “yes” to confirm the action.

Step 5: choose “Mounts and Storage” and select “Format /system

Step 6: Choose “Install ZIP from SD card” then select “Choose ZIP from SD card.” Navigate to you internal storage, find the copied CyanogenMod 10 ROM zip file and select it. Select “Yes” to confirm installation.

Step 7: Once the installation process is finished, go back to the main menu and flash the downloaded Google Apps package by repeating the step 6.

Step 8: Now reboot your HTC Evo 4G by selecting “Go back” then select “Reboot system now”.

Congrats! You have successfully installed Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on your HTC Evo 4G by flashing CyanogenMod 10 ROM. Now enjoy new features.
